How to Make a Pencil Case

With the new school year nearly upon us in Australia, I am making up a few easy zipperedpatchwork pencil cases. This is a great scrap buster project. The little zippered pouches can be used for all manner of things.

Consider this modern update on the age-old "Message In a Bottle" we'd all might have tried in our younger days. Then, we ineffectually used rolled-up handwritten notes in a well-sealed glass bottle, tossed in the ocean during high tide.

I'm unsure how well the included USB memory stick might hold up to the corrosive effects of salt water, and skeptical that anyone who might find it would have a computer, and trust it to be not infected with viruses!

A few weeks ago I made a jewellery organiser.  While browsing the internet I also saw this very cool one:

Naturally I decided to try it out myself:

Material needed:

Grater

Spray paint

Cuphooks

Beads

Hot-glue gun

• Find an old grater and clean it up:

• Grab some spray-paint in the colour you prefer
• Evenly spray it in a well-ventilated area.

I spent a little time on Pinterest yesterday and decided I was going to stop pinning and get to work making some of things I've seen and loved. First on the list was the gorgeous metallic lace crowns I adore! I'm very pleased at how they turned out! I especially love the top one because it was made from a vintage doily collar and looks like sunshine!

I found a box of random shells and coral pieces at an estate sale, and they instantly screamed at me to make jewelry from them.  So I obliged!  This is the first piece from the 'shell box' series I'll put up on my Etsy shop in the upcoming weeks.  What you see is a 2.5 x 2.5 inch piece of pink fan coral, wrapped with gold tone wire on a gold-plated chain and featuring a pink opal bead.
